Amber's Hope Animal Rescue Crete was founded as a heartfelt tribute to Tracee and Jon Walton's beloved rescue dog, Amber, who tragically passed away after being poisoned in their Crete garden. Now operated by a dedicated team of volunteers in both Crete and the UK, our mission revolves around providing a safe haven for dogs in need. We are not a shelter but a compassionate halfway house with the primary goal of finding loving homes for our rescued dogs as swiftly as possible.
We extend a helping hand to dogs found in distress on the streets or facing unsafe conditions, offering them foster care, medical assistance, and essential neutering services. We don't shy away from taking in older dogs or those with medical issues, as well as full litters of puppies requiring urgent care. To finance our efforts, we engage in constant fundraising endeavors, relying wholeheartedly on the generosity of our amazing animal-loving community in the UK, Europe, and locally in Crete.
Furthermore, we lend a helping paw to other dog and cat rescues across Crete, facilitating transport logistics and travel arrangements for animals adopted to loving homes in the UK or Europe.
Within the UK, our team of dedicated volunteers diligently coordinates home checks, fosters, and adoptions for our dogs. We work closely together, ensuring that each and every one of our animals finds the loving and happy home they truly deserve.
